Get Better, Not Just Feel Better
Before getting down to what ‘good’ mental health is, I would first like to share my views on what I think good mental health is not. A person with good mental health is not someone who never gets upset, is happy all the time, likes everyone, always puts others happiness ahead of his own, tolerates life’s difficulties endlessly, follows the social norms, etc.
So who is a person with good mental health? A person who understands the essence of being human – who is true to the emotional experiences that he has, yet is able to regulate negative emotions effectively, has a high tolerance but chooses to tolerate when its worth it, pursues responsible hedonism, makes others happy but not at the cost of his own happiness, takes calculated risks, is not afraid to make mistakes.”
Advanced Therapies Supported
We use evidence-based short-term therapies of Rational Emotive Behavior Cognitive Therapy (RECBT)/Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which belong to the cognitive school of thought. The basic tenet of these therapies being that the way we think influences the way we feel and act. Most people believe our misery is caused by external events/people only.
Unlike most therapies, REBT shows you how certain unhelpful beliefs contribute towards creating and maintaining unhealthy negative emotions. This is helpful because even if these adverse external events cannot be altered we aren’t doomed to feel miserable about them. Instead we have the choice to feel much lesser disturbed by adopting a healthier belief system.

What Our Happy Customers Say
I have recently completed my 2 month long training with Malvika Varma and it was really a very insightful experience. Although I knew a bit about REBT & CBT before I joined the "INTENSIVE TRAINING" program I got to learn a lot, in terms of theory as well as practical application of it. Her knowledge of the subject is worth an appreciation. She not only practises what she teaches but also helps you imbibe the concepts of REBT and CBT in your daily life. REBT & CBT as therapies are quite well researched and widely practiced but it's important to learn them and be able to apply them on ourselves as well as our clients and that's what this training has helped me do.. She is extremely good at monitoring your peer counselling sessions and gives really insightful inputs that help you improve your counselling skills.. 🙂
I have been through all the self-help books available and still find yourself unable to find ways to deal with life and yourself, there is Malvika Varma. She will help you find your own feet, with reasonable, doable and practical ways to change your first response to triggers in your life. It’s take a bit of time, but it’s for the long haul that you change your self to a much stronger happier person overall.
I was pursuing my Masters in Clinical Psychology in Christ University, Bengaluru, when I joined the "INTENSIVE TRAINING IN REBT/CBT" at aStereoTherapy with Malvika Varma. During the summer vacations in Mumbai, I did the 1 month course. It was one the greatest and most insightful learning experience I have had in the field of psychology. Unlike most others, this was a complete practical oriented course where we got opportunity to practice and learn simultaneously. Malvika is not just a good teacher and passionate believer of the therapy but also a guide in personal life I will always look up to.
