What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on disorders of the neurological and musculoskeletal systems and how these disorders affect general health. Doctors of Chiropractic use a conservative, hands-on approach to restore and enhance the health of patients.

Our chiropractor uses a variety of techniques to restore joint motion, repair soft tissue injury, and relieve pain. The most common therapy performed is chiropractic manipulation, or an adjustment. An adjustment involves a quick, light force being carefully applied to restore optimal joint function. This is a gentle, safe, and effective way to improve joint mobility and reduce pain and it can be performed on almost any joint in the body. Depending on each patient, their condition, and their comfort level, chiropractic adjustments can be modified and low force adjustment tools can be incorporated.

What to expect from your first visit with our chiropractor Dr. Alexa?

Dr Alexa will take a detailed history and exam, including a spinal and neurological exam to see what diagnosis is causing you pain. Dr Alexa uses a “test don’t guess approach” to see how your body is handling stress and can get to the root cause of your pain. Dr Alexa uses Insight Scanning Technology to better understand the state of your nervous system and how to best manage your pain and other symptoms.  After reviewing the testing, treatment will be offered including chiropractic adjustments and other modalities.

Pregnancy Chiropractic Care: What is Webster Technique?

The Webster technique is for pregnant women, it is a gentle chiropractic adjustment that aligns the pelvis and includes a soft tissue release of associated muscle groups. It allows the pelvis to function properly during pregnancy. The technique reduces soft tissue tension that may cause uterine torsion which allows for an ideal environment for the baby to grow and move. Webster’s technique is helpful in providing relief for common lower back and sciatic pains that pregnant women often experience.

With two small babies at home, Dr. Alexa knows first hand the benefit of both pre and postnatal care.
